4 Tips for a Quick Garage Makeover

How many times have you already planned to do a garage makeover, and then it did not push through? Financial issues may have stopped you as well as time constraints. But there are actually ways on how you can go on for it in less time and less budget.

Below are some ideas on how you can make your makeover fast and successful:

1. Hooks and brackets

Hooks and brackets are best open storage units for your tools which are oddly-shaped and varying sizes. Your mop, shovel, and even your bicycle are perfect for these storage units.

Make sure that your brackets and hooks are securely attached to the wall. Buy only those which can hold heavy items, so they can be used for those which are light and heavy.

2. Use baskets

If you think you do not have enough budget to get those hard plastic storage cabinets, there is no need to worry. You can still use your old shelving units by the aid of baskets. These baskets will serve as the enclosure for your items in the absence of cabinet enclosures and doors.

Your baskets may not have similar shapes, but each should fit perfectly in your shelf, enough for you to place and take it out.

3. Labels

Labelling your storage units according to the type of garage items that are in there is the most effective way towards organisation. This system does not simply end the day you did the makeover; it will help you as long as you need it.

You do not need to label all the categories of garage items available. You may only want to label those item types that you find hard to organise. Only remove it when you have already developed the habit to place and get items from their categories.

4. Shelving

Shelving is perhaps the most inexpensive way to organise your garage. It is impractical to go for wooden ones if you are just placing buckets of paint, and other garage items that have their own containers. Wire closet shelves are cheap and with less maintenance because they do not collect dusts.

Attach your wire closet shelves to your wall near other open storages like hooks and brackets for a good layout. If you are going to store soaps and oils, place them in a container that is leak-proof to prevent them from spilling off the shelf.
